@Duncan No, not in a Lacanian sense! That could get a bit too freaky. This practice (or something like it) is supposedly part of the OTO XIth degree, where one identifies oneself with an "ejaculating penis".
Interesting discussion. I haven't actually tried this method but seems like it's worth experimenting with.

If one wants to delay orgasm then don't keep obsessing/concentrating on the phallus, as you're directing attention there and so are making orgasm more likely to happen. You're setting up a phallus-non-phallus (rest of body) conflict. Solution: Make your ENTIRE body/mind a giant single phallus. Then all of your resources are greatly increased (because you've removed yourself who is the problem), giving 'you' (who is not you but a giant phallus) more control. You're no longer a man trying to control his phallus, but a giant phallus itself.

@Duncan: I think that's probably the best thing to do with the Ferrers car park - although, trust me, you can't claim to be unique. I actually hated the school - moved to teach in Corby. Now live near Bedford.

@Ona: Hey, I'm glad I'm 60, now I can do good 'old peoples exercises' without guilt or suffering from a ego failure! I'm not sure why you think these are for us oldies - they are designed for the spiritual body, or maybe we're just closer to ours? Seriously, done properly these exercises are incredibly demanding).

@Neil: If I had been raised a mile and a half further up the A6, you would have been my teacher! (I have a dim memory of vomiting in the car park of Ferrers school, on some kind of school outing, but cannot remember what we were doing there...)

@Ona: A single hot yoga class will instantly dispel the notion that yoga is for wrinklies. (When it was crowded, the sweat hitting the floor sounded like a rainstorm indoors...)

I suffered such bad shin splints in high school, on the cross country running team, that I still feel them today. I fear inevitably I will have to give up my resistance to "old people's exercises" and start doing yoga and tai chi.

Ah, really enjoyed this Duncan - can so empathise and being in my Diamond year (it's SO nice of the country to celebrate this) I can probably deepen my experiences of what you write.
Incidentally during an incarnation in the 1980's I taught in a school near Irthingborough, a school called The Ferrers. Any chance of a connection?
