“At face value, it seems that Dorje Shugden is a wrathful deity, a dharma protector perhaps, but of a primitive type, who seems fearful of persecution and abuse. The problem is, to what extent is this ‘face value’ the whole picture?”

I wonder if it felt fearful because it was pulled away from other important business? If this is a important entity with many battles to fight, maybe if felt the possession was a distraction from the battles it needed to be fighting.

Maybe there is a way to do the possession in a way that would be consistent with its purpose. You know, meet it half way. Did you have substantive questions to ask it about how to fight for the dharma?

I have found Ronove virtually uncontactible since I moved away from near a public school, so he borrows vibes from nearby places of learning. He can do a lovely massage and improve typing skill.
When summoned he runs around chanting loudly “Ronove! Ronove! Ronove! he also speaks in very odd English every sentence using the name “Ronove” instead of the perpendicular pronoun.

Hi Khan – My view is that just sitting in an empty room and asking for a djinni to appear would probably work! A ritual is a framework for enabling experiences. A ritual should include some kind of symbolism for reaching out to what you intend. In this specific case, you will also need to provide a means of communicating with the entity you intend to contact, and (because it is rumoured to be hazardous) a means of protecting yourself against it. So my answer is that if your ritual contains: (1) a symbolic linking with the entity; (2) a means of communication; and (3) protection, then it’s probably good to go.

Duncan – Yes, I’ve been keeping all this to myself… Actually did go into it a bit in Chaotopia!, all those years ago…
I find if I resist ejaculating for really prolonged periods I feel uncomfortable in the prostate area. I think it’s a case of finding a balance between one’s discomfort and the pleasant effects of no-spurting.
Another thing that’s useful for handling the energy of the dry-come: tongue against roof of mouth, as recommended in some energy yogas. It really makes everything feel smoother.

It’s easy to be conspiracy-minded about the power of advertising, but now I think about it I remember just about any simple song or chant I learned as a child, from “Now I lay me down to sleep…” to “Three blind mice, see how they run” to “zing zing zing jacqueline jacqueline…” and many more. Whether because we tend to play with song and chant more as children, or because children are particularly adept at remembering things in that format? Don’t know. Perhaps I’d remember things I “learned” in biology and chemistry classes if they were taught in the form of ditties and clapping games.

What’s really weird is how thoroughly I know the slogans, tunes and words to TV advertisements from the late 70s, when I was in primary & middle school. We did not have a television, and I only saw them occasionally when watching at friends’ houses or heard them repeated on the playground. In fact, I recall the song “just one cornetto, give it to me, delicious ice cream…” from the year I spent in the UK when I was 14. And I rarely watched television there either.

Hi Greg! I agree about Sapphire and Steel. That ending traumatised a whole generation! Not sure about your ditty hypothesis, however… Cadbury’s fudge, Birdseye potato waffles, and (of course) Glade shake ‘n’ vac were all still available the last time I checked… (With apologies to residents of Her Britannic Majesty’s former colonies for the exclusively Brit TV refs in this thread…)
